ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Turnbull_David.jpg

We have reached the halfway mark of Term 2 and I would like to acknowledge the continued hard work and dedication of our staff.  We have had a busy week, with lots of opportunities for the students at McAuley. On Monday we had netballers in Canberra from Year 7-10, they were fine ambassadors for our school, with one of our Year 9/10 teams winning their division. They now advance to the Combined Catholic Colleges finals in Sydney later this year. Our Athletics Carnival was a huge success on Tuesday, students enjoyed showcasing their athletic talents on the beautiful Autumn day we received. It was great to see parents come down and support their children on the day as well.

Protected Industrial Action

A reminder that McAuley will not be open for students on Friday 27 May because insufficient staff are available to safely supervise your children. You will need to make alternative arrangements for this day.

If there is an exceptional circumstance that prevents any alternative supervision for your child, please contact me directly to discuss. All parents and carers have received a message through Compass earlier this week regarding the Protected Industrial Action.

Stage 6 Announcement

I am delighted to inform you that the decision to move to Year 11, Stage 6 has been confirmed this week by the Archbishop and the Director. This is a significant milestone for the life of our school. A letter from Catholic Education, Archdiocese of Canberra & Goulburn Director, Ross Fox has been sent out to families outlining this exciting new development. I encourage you to please read through his letter. We will be hosting a parent information evening on Thursday 9 June, where staff from Catholic Education will be able to outline the implementation of Stage 6 schooling at McAuley.

This exciting development will not only benefit our school, but it will also benefit our wider community. It gives families from our area extra choice when it comes to the education of their children. For many years there has been talk of Stage 6 being offered at McAuley and now, it has finally come to fruition. It’s time to celebrate the next step in the evolution of Catholic Education in our region.

We look forward to seeing you at our parent information evening on Thursday 9th June.

Stage 4, 2023  Information

We will be hosting a Parent Information Evening on Tuesday 7 June to outline the transition from Primary to Secondary school. We welcome all parents and carers of Year 6 students to come along and hear about the exciting opportunities offered in Stage 4 schooling at McAuley. Following our information evening, we will have our first Year 7 orientation day on Friday 17 June. There will be an information pack going home to families outlining what will happen on the day.
