PRINCIPAL'S REPORT
The calendar reflects very well we are back to “normal” with a multitude of sporting, cultural and local events happening. A reminder that school is all about opportunity and making the most of our skills and talents.
Teachers are busy completing assessments and reports which will be made available via the Compass Portal later today. I always encourage a good conversation with your boys and girls working from a strengths base. Ask “what are you most proud of?”… “What are your favourite subjects?” and so on. This semester report gives an ideal opportunity to build some goals for the rest of the year and again, I encourage working from a positive base… “How can we help you improve at…?”
Information about optional Parent Teacher Interviews will also be sent home and I encourage you to check in with classroom and subject teachers to know how best you can work together to make the rest of 2022 successful both academically and socially. Details of bookings and availability will be sent home soon.
Best wishes to our candidates for First Eucharist who received Holy Communion for the first time on Thursday evening. Thanks to their families, teachers and Miss Mason who have worked to assist in their preparation for this sacrament.
Congratulations also to those who received the Sacrament of Confirmation last Thursday. Due to a Principal’s meeting the TBAG Cluster Principals could not attend but the feedback again was very positive. Thanks to those families, staff and Miss Mason for their support and preparation.
There will be more detail provided about Protected Industrial Action set down for next Thursday 30 June. I will advise of the status of the school and supervision (should any be available) next Tuesday by email.
Please also remember that the day following that (Friday 1 July) is the second of our Pupil Free Days this term for teacher professional learning and Term 3 Planning. School will resume for all students K-10 on Tuesday
We are also in the next stages of completing Subject Selections for our Year 11 Class of 2023. We are in a position to offer a good range of onsite and virtual subject options to our interested students so far. Those booklets will be available close to the end of term to allow the holiday break to have some conversations with their families. There will be more detailed meetings held to talk through course and subject choice with Curriculum, Virtual and VET experts early next term.
We welcomed a number of interested parents to our first “Sneak Peek” of Kindergarten 2023. I was very proud to be able to show off our improved facilities, discuss our future plans and highlight our excellent teaching and support staff. We are hoping for a good number of Kindergarten students to begin next year and know that our current families and students are our best advertisement. Thank you all for your support. Our Junior Captains did a great job also showing how proud they were of their school. Thanks Zoe and Hunter.
This will be our last Newsletter for the term. Please enjoy a lovely Winter break from the busy routines of school life.
Mary our Mother … look after us.
