WESTERN REGION ATHLETICS
McAuley took a team of 35 students to Cootamundra for the Western Region Athletics Carnival. While conditions were less than ideal, all of McAuley athletes performed well and the school is proud of their effort and behaviour.
Students who finished in the top three and brought home ribbons were:
Brad Beavan - 1st Shot Put, Noah Donghi - 2nd High Jump, 3rd Long Jump, Carter Hood - 3rd Shot Put, Paige Kelly - 3rd 100m, 3rd 200m, Jimmy O'Connell, 1st Discus, Joey Parry - 1st 100m, 3rd 200m, 1st Long Jump, 2nd High Jump, Chloe Pearce - 1st 800m, 2nd 100m, 2nd 200m, 1st Long Jump, 1st High Jump, Lacey Thomas - 3rd High Jump, 2nd Discus, Angus Watts - 1st Long Jump.
After a very busy and successful day, Chloe Pearce was named 11yrs Girl Age Champion and Joey Parry was Runner Up in the 11yrs Boy category.
The following students have now qualified to compete at the Archdiocesan Carnival which will be held at the AIS in Canberra on the 23rd of August:
Brad Beavan, Noah Donghi, Paige Kelly, Jimmy O'Connell, Gavin Olivier, Joey Parry, Chloe Pearce, Lacey Thomas, Angus Watts, Hunter Watts.
We extend our thanks to the parents who transported the team to the carnival, and we wish those students who have progressed the best of luck in Canberra.
