MERCY VALUES - MCAULEY STUDENTS
The office had a call from an older gentleman, Mr Norm James.
He called to say that last week whilst going for a walk he was sheltering from the rain under a verandah in Capper Street. A McAuley student, a lovely young girl perhaps 14-15, stopped and asked if he would like an umbrella as she had a spare. Unfortunately he didn’t get her name.
But he wanted to say what a high standard of student we must have at McAuley when they help out “a silly old man walking in the rain”.
Mercy is defined as empathy or love that manifests itself in action that is practical and thoughtful, warm and open, respectful and enabling. The value of mercy is inextricably linked to compassion, justice, dignity, excellence, hospitality, stewardship.
Mercy values in action.
