Dear McAuley Families

Welcome back to Term 2.  The break felt like a long one and the beautiful Autumn days at the end of last week certainly helped make gardening a pleasure!

We began the term with a Staff Spirituality Day gathering with our colleagues from the TBAG Schools (Tumut, Batlow, Adelong, and Gundagai). The theme of “Walking Together” centered around the Emmaus story and the reminder from Pope Francis that “… we are not alone: we do not walk alone…”

Thank you to those staff and students who represented McAuley at the Anzac Dawn Service and March.  We were able to gather as one school to commemorate the service and contribution of those men and women in our armed forces who have worked for the many freedoms and privileges we enjoy here in Australia. These important traditions continue to build the very special culture we have here at McAuley of authentic care and concern for our fellow people. Thank you all.

It was special to welcome back Nakia Morris after her time of sick leave last term.  Nakia is a vital and much-loved support to our students and staff, and we have missed her smiling face and ‘can do’ attitude.

We remember Mrs Kerry Croft in our prayers on the sad loss of her father – Geoff Williamson.  Kerry has been a most beautiful and loyal support to her dad.  She has been very touched by the care and compassion shown by our McAuley family over the last week and passes on her family’s grateful thanks.

We are coming into enrolment time for 2024 and will seek applications for our main enrolment years – Kindergarten, Year 7, and Year 11, 2024.  Several other year levels are approaching being full and we will open wait lists if necessary.  Please keep an eye on local and social media for information and orientation sessions coming up later in Term 2.

It was lovely to welcome 5 new enrolments to the Secondary campus this week.  A special welcome to Nicolas in Year 9 who joins us on exchange from France.  What an amazing experience for us all!

Things are quickly ramping up to be busy this term and I encourage you to get on board and assist your children access calendars and planners, so all are aware of what is coming and required in the next few weeks.

Please also keep an eye out for notification about parent teacher interviews in Year 11 and information and planning for Year 11, 2024 that will take place this term.

Mary our Mother, Look after us.
