PRINCIPAL'S REPORT
Dear McAuley Families
The cold mornings are certainly hanging on! Thank you for your support of correct uniform for your sons and daughters. There are certainly warm options available at Wendellie which match our uniform choices. On Monday I reminded Secondary students of the need for safety in the wearing of bangles, bracelets, hooped earrings and so on. Please continue to support our staff in having your sons and daughters in correct, warm, and safe uniform.
Last Friday McAuley hosted the Western Region Athletics Carnival. Mrs Bathgate and her team did a wonderful job in organising the events, record keeping, marshalling and so on. Lyn even arranged for the sun to shine briefly! Thank you to our Community Council members who were able to cater for a large crowd on a cold day. Thanks all for your wonderful support and enthusiasm.
It's enrolment time and already interest is high in our school for 2024. Please encourage family and friends to apply online for enrolment at McAuley next year. Having a good idea of numbers will be very helpful as we plan for buildings, facilities and staffing needed to support our growth as a school.
Reports were released on Compass yesterday. Please take the time to review your children’s progress. Celebrate the gains they have made and work with them to set realistic goals to improve in other areas. Parent teacher interviews are available on your request and may be booked via the Compass portal.
Michael Grose gives some great pointers on “Parenting Ideas” about things to consider when reading your child’s report:
1. Focus on strengths.
2. Consider your child’s attitude to learning.
3. Broaden your focus away from academic subjects.
4. Take note of student self-assessment.
5. Celebrate your child’s efforts – enjoy a break from tests and assessments!
I look forward to celebrating the achievements and success of our students at the end of term assembly next Friday 30 June.
Please note the return dates for Term 3:
Monday 17 July: Staff Day – Planning and Workshops
Tuesday 18 July: Classes resume K – 11.
We have much to celebrate at McAuley. Our enrolments are strong, academic results are high and we have a happy and safe school. Thank you all as parents for your support as the first educators of your children.
Mary our Mother, Look after us.
