PRINCIPAL'S REPORT
Welcome back to Term 2. The beautiful weather in the break was very soothing. I hope you all enjoyed some break from the daily routines of school and work.
Thanks to those who were able to support the ANZAC and Falling Leaf Festival events. I am always very proud seeing our boys and girls march or contribute to the local clubs and organisations they belong to outside of school.
Our staff professional learning day on Monday began our training as Youth Mental Health First Aiders. The day was spent with a trainer and staff will now attend two online evening workshops to complete the qualification. We are enormously grateful for the support of the “Dolly’s Dream Charity” which has fully funded this program at a cost of some $300/head. This is an outstanding opportunity for all our staff and is reflective of our commitment to prioritising the mental health of our students and families.
As we continue to grow and evolve, there are a number of projects on the boil. Most important is the Primary BGA project which involves the demolition of the admin and staff block and toilets as well as the Kinder and Year 5/6 rooms. Primary Rooms 9 and 10 will be refurbished also in line with the works. Tenders have been appointed and we met in the break to plan the placement of portable facilities and learning areas for the duration of the project. Anticipated start time will be at the beginning of Term 3 with a time frame of some 40 weeks being highlighted. We are grateful for the support of the NSW Block Grant Authority and Catholic Education on this (approximately) $5 million project.
We also continue to recruit new staff. In the coming days we will welcome Lisa Watling, who joins us as a canteen assistant, Meni Seumemanutafa working as an assistant in technical subjects and Jess Simpson who joins us in an admin/office role.
We also continue to recruit for Secondary teachers in various areas of expertise and subjects. Please encourage anyone you know who is qualified and keen to join our outstanding team to apply via the Catholic Education Canberra website.
Enrolments are currently opening for 2025. Due to high levels of demand, we are only looking at offering enrolment in kindergarten 2025. Other year level applications will need to be placed on a wait list and places offered according to CECG priority levels as places possibly become available.
Please enjoy a good term 2. Let’s support our boys and girls by encouraging good sleeping, eating and study habits. Those who are well organised, carefully planning and equipped with the right (positive) attitude will do well. As always please never hesitate to check in with your child’s classroom, PC or subject teachers to know how they are tracking at school.
Mary our mother look after us.
