Dear McAuley Families
We continue to plough through a very full calendar with lots of events happening in the days leading up to the end of term 3. I encourage all to keep a close eye on Compass for communication, notifications and permissions for many events. Our school continues to be a happy place where our boys and girls learn and thrive in a caring, family environment.
Enrolment enquiries continue to be high, and we are opening wait lists across a number of grade levels into 2024. Our strong academic progress and well-regarded pastoral care processes add to the excellent reputation we have in the local district. Please encourage family and friends to enquire through our office if they are interested in enrolment into 2024.
It was distressing to experience a spate of vandalism on the Secondary campus over the weekend. I appreciate the hurt and disappointment our staff and students feel when they see our beautiful school be damaged in such a way. The support of the local Police and Catholic Education has been very valuable as we move forward and continue as normal.
This week will end with the announcement of our first 2024 College Captains. These boys and girls from Year 12 have followed through with a nomination, interview, speech and election process to put themselves forward as our leaders for 2024. I am proud of their vision for our college and their desire to leave their mark here as they complete their schooling at McAuley. Year 11 have been completing their first formal exams this week as they transition to their Year 12 courses after the break. They are doing very well and approaching this process with maturity and optimism.
Of course, the big event coming is our Colour Run. Enthusiasm is high and a number of our students have raised mammoth funds to go towards our Community Council projects and plans for playground equipment and activities. Thank you to the many local businesses who have donated prizes and to the huge number of family members who have committed funds to this fantastic event. This will be the first “big” family activity we have held at school for several years. Please feel very welcome to join us on Friday afternoon for some fun, food, and colour.
Our Art Show was launched on Wednesday evening by local artist Stephanie Corkhill-Hyles. Thank you to Ms Place and her many helpers for their organisation of this special event. Please take the time to experience our talented artists pieces of work that are proudly on display.
Please take care as we get through the last events of a remarkably busy term. Thanks, as always for the excellent family support we receive at school.
Mary our mother, Look after us.
Eamonn Moore
Principal
The purpose of this week aligns with the core values of a Catholic education by encouraging the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health, and encouraging a balanced approach to life. Staff and student well-being ultimately benefits the entire McAuley community, leading to happier, healthier, and more effective educators.
NAPLAN 2023
Recently students in years 3,5,7 and 9 took home their individual NAPLAN Result Reports to celebrate their achievements and success with their families and to reflect on further learning opportunities that could extend their learning in the areas of Numeracy and Literacy.
Teachers also at McAuely use this one assessment evidence to assist their understanding of student learning
and areas of further support needed to continue student achievement. Our recent results are very positive
and reflect the great teaching and learning, student’s engagement and effort taking place at McAuley.
ACARA ( Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority have also recently released National
and State results Here are some statistics worth celebrating comparing our results with the National results.

Georgie really turned our school into a party on Friday evening. There was much dancing done from children K-6 and some new dance moves learned too. Thanks Georgie and teachers for hosting a fun time.
Year 4 have been busy learning about bridges and how materials are used for a purpose. The students had to plan, construct and evaluate a bridge from materials supplied, considering strength, shape and durability.
We have a few engineers in our midst!
Lego! We love Lego! And we love STEM! The amazing team at Deadly Science have shared with us this amazing Lego pack to support Indigenous science learning. We have been gifted two large boxes full of different Lego kits which will be used in our classrooms across K-6. Deadly Science also has amazing resources and information about how teachers can implement Indigenous perspectives in their STEM teaching. We are so lucky to have these resources. Thanks Deadly science! Take a look at their website for some great STEM ideas and to donate to this great cause.
We are in need of some helpers in the primary campus canteen.
If you could spare an hour or so once a month that would be great.
Please call the office if you can help out.
