Dear Parents and Carers
Welcome back to Term 3.
I pointed out to Year 10 on Tuesday that they were only a few months away from beginning Year 11 and to Year 7 that they were over halfway into Year 8, time marches on!
Wednesday we celebrated NAIDOC WEEK that took place through the holiday break with a whole school Mass. Elder Aunty Sue told a story of giant Kangaroos and Aboriginal people camped near where the Lachlan and Murrumbidgee rivers meet. The people were defenceless and forced to run from the giant beasts. Because of the chaos, confusion and injuries suffered the people developed spears, boomerangs, shields, baby carriers and fire to defend themselves. A wonderful story of resilience and technological development.
Our youngest students, Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2, will help present the Parish Mass this Saturday evening at 6pm. We hope many families are able to make a special effort to attend this Mass.
Interviews for 2020 enrolments are underway, if you are aware of any families interested in enrolling their child for next year could you please advise them to contact the school as soon as possible.
Kind regards to everyone.
Let us all open our hearts to hear God's call to love and respect everyone, as we would ourselves. Let us "Love your neighbour as yourself".
KEEP UP TO DATE WITH OUR ELECTRONIC SCHOOL CALENDAR
A reminder to keep an eye of the McAuley Electronic Calendar for all upcoming dates.
School Fee Invoices will be emailed to all families within the next couple of weeks. If you do not receive your statement, please contact the Office.
Thank you for your support.
SKI TRIP - Friday 16th August for Years 5 to 10
The optional Year 5 to 10 McAuley Ski Trip will take place on Friday 16th August.
Arrangements for our ski trip have changed slightly from previous years so it is IMPORTANT to read all information carefully to ensure you fully understand the arrangements.
Transport will be by two Goodes coaches, departing at 6:00am from the school bus stop. Returning at approximately 5:30pm. We have a strict student / supervising teacher ratio on this excursion.
Mt Selwyn requires bookings and payments in advance, and DO NOT PROVIDE REFUNDS.
Students, who wish to attend, need to return a PAPER-COPY permission note by THIS COMING MONDAY (July 29th).
A student’s place is NOT CONFIRMED until the ‘paper-copy’ permission note attached, is returned to either school office. Please do NOT email the form to the school office as we are trying to give every student an equal opportunity to attend.
Places will be filled in order of the note return (correctly completed and $50 deposit or full payment is received) - Seats fill quickly and may fill before the due date on the note. Seats will be forfeited if money is not received by the due date.
REMINDERS:
- Your place is NOT CONFIRMED until the ‘paper-copy’ permission note is returned to either school office.
- Places will be filled in order of the note return - seats may fill before the due date on the note.

INQUISITIVE MINDS Years 9 & 10
Year 9 and 10 students participated in an Inquisitive Minds Workshop today which provided quality and fun maths activities for the students.
Students were immersed in mathematical and logical thinking which utilised foundational and advanced problem solving strategies. They participated in interactive lessons on problem solving strategies, working together on a diverse range of hands-on problems. Thanks Miss Wyse for coordinating this great day for our students.
PDHPE lessons on Lacrosse were enjoyed in the glorious winter sunshine this morning. Year 7 honing the skills of scooping, passing, catching, cradling, shooting, checking and dodging.
