Welcome back to an action-packed Term 4! Our calendars are already quite packed with lots happening right up until the last days of school. Please be sure to support your boys and girls with good study routines and a solid use of diaries and calendars so they feel well organised, less anxious and on track.
We continue to plan and prepare for 2024 as we become a K-12 College. This time next year our Class of XXIV will be undertaking their first HSC exams; which is very exciting. This week our Year 11 begin their Year 12 studies, and we wish them well.
We pray too for our ex-students who begin their HSC exams this week, knowing that they are assured of the support of our McAuley family.
We welcome Lucy Pearce to our staff who will work with us part time in Secondary. I hope to be able to soon announce our new Assistant Principal (Primary) who will join us next year as we expand our Leadership Team. Congratulations to Sarah Lu, Jo Dougherty and Julie Cross who have been appointed as Secondary Coordinators from 2024 – again as our leadership team and staffing numbers grow.
Interest in enrolments remains high and, as a result we have to be opening wait lists across most year levels for 2024. Please continue to promote McAuley as a school with high academic and pastoral standards and as a school that cares about our students doing their very best. For your information, enrolment acceptance is documented on the CECG Enrolment Policy (which may be found on the CECG Website). The priority for enrolment in a Catholic School is for children, who turn 5 before 31 July (NSW) and/or:
- Are baptised Catholics of the designated local Parish.
- Are siblings of children already attending the school.
- Are children of staff.
- Are baptised Catholics from other Parishes outside of the area.
- Are non-Catholic whose parents/guardians are committed to a Catholic education.
The wait lists will enable our future planning and allow us to know the directions of our college as we move into a bright and exciting future.
Please also be aware we are recruiting for teaching staff in 2024 with an active campaign via Catholic Education, “Teachers on Net” and “Seek”. Should you know of anyone interested and qualified please encourage them to apply for the advertised full time, permanent positions in both Primary and Secondary.
Mary our mother, Look after us.

Principal
This year, McAuley celebrated Mercy week with a Mass. This Mass held a special significance as we welcomed our new Year 11 college captains into their leadership roles. These exceptional students have been selected not only for their academic achievements but also for their strong character and dedication to serving their peers and the broader school community.
The induction ceremony was a beautiful event, filled with hope and promise for the future. Our Year 11 college captains, Lily Webb and Liam Buckley and Vice Captains Olivia Dean and Danile Smith, stood before the school community and pledged to uphold the principles of Catherine McAuley, our school's founder, throughout their leadership journey in Year 12.
We look forward to witnessing our school's first Year 12 class as in their first academic year, and we remain committed to nurturing a community that lives by the principles of mercy, guided by the wisdom of Catherine McAuley.
May Year 12's year be filled with kindness, compassion, and the embodiment of Catherine McAuley's vision for our school.
Thursday 19th October is Chisholm House Day. The theme for the day is Chisholm's Teddy Bears Picnic. Students and staff are encouraged to wear casual clothes and bring their teddy bear or soft toy to school. The students are asked to donate a gold coin which will go towards playground improvements.

MOBILE PHONES - INTERESTING ARTICLE
Mobile phones are not to be used during school time at McAuley. We recognise that phones and devices are an important part of all of our lives in the 21st century but also know that our young people need physical activity and face to face interaction. Students are clearly directed to avoid the use of phones during the school day and/or to use the pouches in each Secondary classroom or leave phones in their bags.
Students will be asked by staff to put phones away and if this happens more than once they may be asked to take the phone to the office. Parents agree to these procedures and we expect that you support this along with our other pastoral and curriculum policies and procedures.
