Dear McAuley Families
The end of term is nigh! It has been a busy time for all of us and a break is much needed.
Next week we experience several “firsts” as we farewell our Year 12 Graduating Class of 2025. Our new College Captains will be inducted at Graduation Mass on Wednesday, and we will officially farewell Year 12 at the Valedictory Assembly on Thursday, followed by a morning tea with their families and guests.
We are looking forward to welcoming a number of dignitaries at both events as we recognize and celebrate the massive achievements we have made as a college.
Last week I communicated the names of our College leaders for 2025. Congratulations to Eadie McKay & Phoebe Oag as College Captains and Spencer Radford & Jude Moreno as College Vice-Captains. These impressive young people will no doubt be excellent leaders in our community.
I know you will join with us in praying for our Year 12 students as they undertake their HSC exams in the coming weeks. These exams are the culmination of 13 years of schooling, hard work, study and practice.
McAuley Catholic College Tumut Prayer for Year 12…
Let us pray for our young people as they prepare for their HSC exams.
Calm their hearts and give them quiet confidence
In the knowledge that our community is supporting them in prayer.
Help them Believe in God, in their own skills and knowledge.
Support them to Strive to do their best and demonstrate their gifts.
Allow them to Achieve their personal goals.
Guided by our Mercy Values and their families and teachers.
Catherine McAuley pray for us.
Mary our Mother look after us.
Special wishes to our families of Year 12 – often the unseen heroes of the last couple of years. Please remember these easy tips to best support your sons and daughters through the next few weeks:
- Support, support, support: cups of tea, snacks in the cupboard, delay social events and trips.
- Spread study sessions apart: Science tells us ‘spacing’ is the best way to study. Do some study, have a break, come back and revise.
- Sleep: let your child rest and get good sleep and eat well (Limit screen time!).
- Believe in them: Lots of positive talk & praise – avoid catastrophic thinking!
- Remember some stress is good… manage nerves and balance study and life.
As always should your child or family need support or advice please never hesitate to reach out to the college for help.
It was pleasing to see good numbers of parents and students at the Stage 5 Information Session during this week. Thanks to Mr Turnbull and the staff who attended to provide information and advice around subject offerings and pathways for our Year 9 students in 2025. The College is pleased to offer increased opportunities and pathways for study for our young people.
Elsewhere in this newsletter will be dates and events for your diaries and planning.
Please be aware that Friday 27 September is a Pupil Free Day for staff professional learning. Term 4 resumes on Monday 14 October for all classes K-11.
Mary our mother look after us.
Eamonn Moore
Principal
Mr Moore announced last Friday the results of the election for the Senior Student Leadership Team 2025.
These students have been elected after nominations, interviews and speeches held last week. We wish them well as they take on these most significant roles in our community.

There are still a few families who have not consented on Compass that they have read and agreed to our ICT (“Information and Communications Technology”) Device Agreements.
It is necessary that we have these Agreements in place to allow students to use ICT appropriately at McAuley Catholic College.
If you are yet to consent you will be reminded on the Homepage of the Compass App, where it will state something like “Events and Payments, You have 1 event requiring action, Click here to proceed”.
If you are having difficulty viewing the note in Compass please contact our office.
The McAuley Community Council met on Thursday 19 September to discuss a number of activities currently being undertaken at the school. The Council was happy to support the purchase of replacement basketball rings and backboards for both the senior and junior side which should be available for all students to use in Term 4.
Additionally, the Council is currently in the process of renewing sporting representative uniforms across a range of sports and are open to any local business sponsorships. If you have a local business who would like to support this initiative please get in touch. The next meeting will be held on Thursday 31 October at 5pm in the College Library - all are welcome to attend.
Students who are planning to go on work experience in the first 5 weeks of Term 4, need to have their paperwork in by the end of Term 3 at the latest.
With the increase in access that young people have to the Internet and online content, it is important as parents and educators that we stay up to date with resources and strategies that are available to help keep our children safe in online environments.
These are some useful links for parents and carers to educate themselves on Internet safety. Please take some time to explore the digital resources included below.
The eSafety Commissioner is run by the Australian Government. It covers a lot of content and is the place that parents or carers can go to if they need to report online abuse or misuse.
