As we enter the last few days of the school year for 2024, I would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone for their valuable contributions to the McAuley community this year. We are blessed to have great families support us and trust us with the educational journey that their children are on. I would like to mention the staff at McAuley who continually go above and beyond in their quest to provide a great education for our students and families. Their contributions have been exemplary.
Retiring teachers
On Thursday, we recognised the staff who are retiring from McAuley. A huge thank you must go to the Community Council for arranging gifts on behalf of the College. It was great to see Community Council representatives, Mel Pearce and Krissy Angus come along to show support.
Mrs Julie Cross is leaving after being with McAuley for the last 3 and half years. Julie has played a significant role in establishing Stage 6 schooling, teaching both Chemistry and Earth & Environmental Science to our senior students. Julie has also been in the role of Stage 5 Coordinator for the past year.
Mrs Jeanette Dumbrell is officially leaving McAuley after 22 years of teaching at the College. Jeanette has accepted the position of Religious Education Coordinator at St Marys in Batlow. She has been a tireless and dedicated educator who has always put students first.
Ms Fran Clarke is retiring after 21 years of service at McAuley. Fran has been instrumental in driving student academic achievement at McAuley. She was one of the pioneers for introducing the BYOD program into our College and has always been at the forefront of curriculum development. Prior to McAuley going to Stage 6, Fran made sure that students were well prepared for life after McAuley.
Ms Sharon Wyse is retiring after over 35 years of service to McAuley. Sharon has been an extremely well respected teacher. When I talk to ex McAuley students in the community, they all remark that Sharon was a great teacher and that they learned so much from her. Sharon has always maintained high standards of education and taken an active interest in preparing students for the workforce.
On behalf of the McAuley community, I would like to both thank and congratulate these teachers for their service. Our College has been extremely lucky to have had these dedicated teachers as part of our team.
School reports
Semester 2 school reports were released yesterday for students from Kinder to Year 10. They are available to view in the Compass Parent Portal. These reports show the academic growth of the students and from a parental point of view to allow you to have a conversation with your children about the positive work that they have done throughout the year. If you would like to discuss the school report with your child’s teacher, please contact the College to make a convenient time to talk.
Awards assembly
Our End of Year Awards Assembly is on Monday in our College Hall starting at 6pm. Awards recipients should have been notified via Compass of their impending award. I would like to take the opportunity to congratulate all of the students getting awards as it is a reward for the hard work that they have put in throughout the year. We have also been extremely fortunate to have local businesses and organisations sponsor our Awards. The list of sponsors will be on the program at the Awards night and are listed below. On behalf of the College, I would like to thank these businesses for their support.

A reminder that College Fees are now overdue. We ask that you please settle your 2024 fees account by the end of the year. Thank you to all of the families who have already done so.
2025 College Fees
Catholic Education have now provided the 2025 fees. The 2025 Fee Schedule was sent out via Compass yesterday (Thursday 12 December) and it is also available on our website.
Also on our website is a link to our fee payment calculator.
Simply enter the years that your children are going into in 2025 (ensure to enter the eldest child first).
The fee calculator is extremely handy to assist you with working out and planning your payments. If you currently pay your fees weekly/fortnightly/monthly, the fee calculator will assist you with updating your payment amount from January 2025.
Please remember to utilise BPAY as your payment method – your BPAY reference details are emailed to you on your fee statement each month.
The college canteen will be open MONDAY and TUESDAY next week. Orders are available via the Qkr! app both days.
Students from both campuses enjoyed a special lunch with Acting Principal, Mr Turnbull on Monday to celebrate receiving 30 Mercy Awards and achieving Gold level. Mercy Awards are given to students through out the year for displaying our Mercy Values. Well done to all!
A talented Year 9 student has made this fabulous hoody as part of their Textile subject - very creative!
Ms Roche's pet pony, Doug came for a visit earlier this week. He had the best time visiting all the classrooms and getting lots of pats and attention!
McAuley held a fantastic Christmas Concert on Monday evening with performers from both campuses. We were wowed by Eseta on the harp, Fletcher doing a Napoleon Dynamite dance, Michael giving us some laughs with his stand up comedy and Sebastian and Alexander delighting the crowd with their piano playing - just to name a few! Congratulations to all that performed and thank you to everyone who came to watch. What a talented bunch we have at McAuley.
The McAuley Annual Awards evening will be held on Monday 16 December at 6:00 pm. We would like to thank the following sponsors for their generosity and support of these awards.
In Year 2 we have been learning about maps and direction. On Friday we had so much fun with Beebots. We had to enter commands to get them from one point to another, then write our instructions using directional language like forwards, backwards, left and right.
Year 12, 2025 showing off their new jerseys with their pastoral teachers, Ms Roche & Mrs Ryan - such a fresh design! We look forward to guiding the class of 2025 into their final year of schooling!
Our Year 5/6 classes are currently at camp in Jindabyne and as you can tell from these photos, they are having a wonderful time!

Year 7's David Kingma has received a commendation from the Science Teachers Association of NSW for his project on hydrogen generation.
STANSW has invited David to submit his entry to the NSW science competition to represent the Riverina region for the national competition.
David did the project at home in his own time. The project involved using a test rig to experiment with different electrolyte concentrations for hydrogen generation using electricity.
Congratulations!
7.2 English students giving some great scene performances from their study of the play "Hating Alison Ashley" which they enjoyed this term. Lots of fun and some budding thespians there! It was a great way to finish up their studies in English this year.
