SECONDARY STUDENTS GET CREATIVE IN THE KITCHEN
This term, Food Tech students will be whipping up a storm in the McAuley kitchen, thanks to the Great Ocean Road - Careers Made Here - Cheese Your Own Creation Program.
Teams of 2 will design their own imaginative dairy creation to bring to life. They will make and develop their own recipe and submit a photo to be judged for inclusion in the 2020 Great Ocean Road Calendar.
Ms Greacen is really looking forward to encouraging the students to use their imagination to bring amazing creations to life out of everday dairy products. She is so impressed with the nutritious meals the students are creating with simple ingredients like milk and cheese.
Stay tuned everyone......we will keep readers up to date with all the fun!
Inquisitive Minds Maths Day
McAuley students from Years 5 to 10 were fortunate to be involved in a “hands on” Maths Day last Thursday in the hall. The Inquisitive Minds Maths Team came from Sydney with a van full of equipment to run the day.
Students were engaged with maths activities and brain-teasers which demonstrated the value of approaching problems strategically. They learnt a range of problem solving strategies in interactive mini-lessons. They competed in Chocolate Challenges and Lolly Challenges to win prizes by selecting and applying appropriate problem solving strategies as they participated in a hands-on Maths Relay. Our winners and keen mathematicians are pictured.

READING IS MY SECRET POWER - BOOK WEEK PARADE
Book week is a fantastic opportunity for your child to celebrate their favourite characters from their favourite books, by dressing up.
Book Week 2019, runs from August 17-23, and this year asks your children to embrace the theme “READING IS MY SECRET POWER” - an exciting invitation with a world full of possibilities when it comes to book week costume ideas.
This is an opportunity to escape into another world where your child can be anything they want to be. Full details of what McAuley will be undertaking for Book Week will follow, but start thinking now about what wonderful characters your child could dress up as.
