The calendar reflects very well we are back to “normal” with a multitude of sporting, cultural and local events happening. A reminder that school is all about opportunity and making the most of our skills and talents.
Teachers are busy completing assessments and reports which will be made available via the Compass Portal later today. I always encourage a good conversation with your boys and girls working from a strengths base. Ask “what are you most proud of?”… “What are your favourite subjects?” and so on. This semester report gives an ideal opportunity to build some goals for the rest of the year and again, I encourage working from a positive base… “How can we help you improve at…?”
Information about optional Parent Teacher Interviews will also be sent home and I encourage you to check in with classroom and subject teachers to know how best you can work together to make the rest of 2022 successful both academically and socially. Details of bookings and availability will be sent home soon.
Best wishes to our candidates for First Eucharist who received Holy Communion for the first time on Thursday evening. Thanks to their families, teachers and Miss Mason who have worked to assist in their preparation for this sacrament.
Congratulations also to those who received the Sacrament of Confirmation last Thursday. Due to a Principal’s meeting the TBAG Cluster Principals could not attend but the feedback again was very positive. Thanks to those families, staff and Miss Mason for their support and preparation.
There will be more detail provided about Protected Industrial Action set down for next Thursday 30 June. I will advise of the status of the school and supervision (should any be available) next Tuesday by email.
Please also remember that the day following that (Friday 1 July) is the second of our Pupil Free Days this term for teacher professional learning and Term 3 Planning. School will resume for all students K-10 on Tuesday
We are also in the next stages of completing Subject Selections for our Year 11 Class of 2023. We are in a position to offer a good range of onsite and virtual subject options to our interested students so far. Those booklets will be available close to the end of term to allow the holiday break to have some conversations with their families. There will be more detailed meetings held to talk through course and subject choice with Curriculum, Virtual and VET experts early next term.
We welcomed a number of interested parents to our first “Sneak Peek” of Kindergarten 2023. I was very proud to be able to show off our improved facilities, discuss our future plans and highlight our excellent teaching and support staff. We are hoping for a good number of Kindergarten students to begin next year and know that our current families and students are our best advertisement. Thank you all for your support. Our Junior Captains did a great job also showing how proud they were of their school. Thanks Zoe and Hunter.
This will be our last Newsletter for the term. Please enjoy a lovely Winter break from the busy routines of school life.
Mary our Mother … look after us.

On Thursday 16 June, Year 6 students from McAuley, St Mary's Batlow and St Joseph's Adelong received the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Throughout the term students have been preparing for this beautiful Sacrament through attending preparation workshops, facilitated by Ms Mason with the support of Father George and Father Namora.
They also spent a day together on a Confirmation Retreat where they reinforced their knowledge of gifts of The Spirit. The students all chose a saint’s name who demonstrated values that they wish to emulate throughout their life.
At the Confirmation ceremony the students were supported by their sponsor and family members. Special thanks to Father George and Father Namora who concelebrated the Mass.
We are extremely proud of these students as they took another step in their faith journey.
Special thanks to parents who assisted their child in preparing for this Sacrament.
Please continue to keep these students in your prayers.
Year 4 celebrated the Sacrament of First Holy Communion on Thursday June 23.
The Mass was a joyful celebration of their commitment to their faith.
All involved were extremely proud of these students in their understanding of the importance of receiving the Blessed Sacrament.
Following the Sacrament the students celebrated with their families and friends with a party in St Mary's Hall.
Father Namora celebrated the Mass and spoke to the students about the joy of receiving this Sacrament.
Special thanks to parents who assisted their child in preparing for this Sacrament.

On Thursday 23 June students from 7 - 10 participated in an Elevate Education workshop. These workshops are designed to teach students how to achieve academically.
The Elevate Program is a series of high impact workshops to help students improve their study techniques, increase motivation, build confidence, and lift performance.
The presenter, Trinity, was very impressed with the engagement and interest of our students. The feedback forms completed by the students were extremely positive as they saw the benefits that following these techniques can have on their schooling.
The staff are looking forward to next semester to see the students utilise these new skills.
Every Elevate workshop comes with a complete set of follow-up resources, so students can make sure the study skills stick!
To download these resources, all you need to do is click the link below and answer the quick, two-question survey on how the session went.
We have been fortunate to have two prac students from Charles Sturt University working at McAuley over the past few weeks. Brhiannon Perrin (5/6MT) and Blake Maher (Year 2) are enjoying their time here at our school and are learning some great teaching practices.
We thank them for their time and effort with their classes.
There was lots of BLUE and lots of very creative costumes for our Mackillop Day fundraiser UNDER THE SEA. Thank you once again to our families for your support. We were able to raise a further $336.10 to go towards the purchase of refrigerated bubblers.
Presenting our school news last week were Year 5 students Aiden Graham and Delilah Hanson.
Year 7-10 art students have been designing postcards for the NAIDOC Week Postcard competition. Here are some of their impressive artworks.
A huge thank you to all the McAuley families who attended our recent Book Fair. We had a great fair and earned lots of new titles for our library.
