Dear McAuley Families
Please take care over the coming days as the weather forecast looks grim. Another curve ball thrown at us! Amazingly, we are reminded of the resilience of our boys and girls as they get along with school life in spite of the many challenges and obstacles that bob up along the way.
It’s hard work to cast off our worries and woes and just be with our families. Justin Coulson writes beautifully in saying “the most important thing you can do for your kids is to love them. And show that you love them by giving them your best
self, and your best time…”
Sounds easy?! Maybe we should all make this a goal for the next week or two as we drag ourselves through the cold, wet winter days.
Staffing News: This week I reluctantly accepted Wendy Hill’s resignation after many years of long and dedicated service to the students and families of McAuley. I hope that we will be able to formally thank and recognise Wendy’s contributions later in the year.
We are progressing on our Stage 6 Planning. This week we will advertise the following positions for 2023:
Learning Support Teacher K - 11
English Teacher (Stage 6)
Secondary Teacher (Various Subjects)
Please reach out to family and friends who may be interested in joining our hard working and dynamic staff as we move boldly into the future of education. Details can be found on Seek and the Catholic Education Website.
Please don’t forget extra Pupil Free days this term:
Friday 5 August (Today)
Monday 12 September (Week 9)
These days have been approved by the Catholic Education Office to allow staff time for professional learning and preparation time. Thank you all for your support in these challenging times.
Year 11 Conferences: Over the last couple of days we have been meeting with our Year 10 students and families to discuss and plan their way forward in Senior Schooling. The Conferences have really built the excitement and helped us realise the offerings that we are able to provide to support our boys and girls as they move to Year 11 and 12. The expert input from Catholic Education staff has been invaluable and will now inform further planning and staffing as we move into the next stages of our Year 11 journey.

Our McAuley garden has produced amazing watermelons, pumpkins and tomatoes this year. These were entered into the Tumut show, and our classes won decorated pumpkins. With our winnings we have purchased some tools to help us care for and grow our garden. Gloves, spades, gardening forks, seeds, watering cans, a gardening trolley and a bug house are some of the items we have purchased.
Selected McAuley Students have exhibited their artworks as part of a combined local Student Artwork Exhibition at the 5 Ways Studio and Gallery.
Artworks exhibited include, drawings, painting, mixed medium, charcoal, watercolours and 3D recycled art creations from Kindergarten - Year 10.
We are truly proud of the great artists we have here at McAuley and delighted they can showcase their talents to our wider community.
Opening times for the gallery are as listed,
Thursday 4th. 9.00 am - 4.00 pm
Friday 5th. 9.00 am - 2.00 pm
Saturday 6th 10.00 am - 3.00 pm

Exciting times for local children from Tumut Preschool as they are to visit McAuley School in the coming weeks for Bound For Big School.
Next Friday 12th August children will get to experience a morning in the life of Kindergarten with the current students of Kindergarten along with Miss Groves.
Bound For Big School starts off with a bus trip to our school, shared stories, literacy, numeracy and craft activities followed by the recess playtime before another bus ride back to Preschool.
We look forward to welcoming these possible future students to McAuley on their Bound For Big School adventure.
Later in the year after enrolments are finalised families will be informed of Orientation Days for enrolled students for Kindergarten 2023.
